The Honourable Marc Miller has announced to overcome an increasing growth of international students in Canada and the proportion of study permits will be decreased by 35% in 2024.
According to the new rules, Mark Miller decided to set an intake cap on international student permit applications to stabilize the proportion of the students for next 2 years, it is expected that the proportion show a drop of 35% in this year. However, in the previous time the study visa had a high success rate – in 2022, the authority of Canada allots limited visas but the ratio exceeded the limit to approximately 8,000,00 (Eight Lakh) study visas were approved, the proportion of visas again across the limit and reached at 10,000,00 (Ten Lakh) in 2023. But now it is announced that only 3,64,000 (Three Lakh sixty-four Thousand) visas will be accepted by the government of Canada.
Not only this, but students need to a specific permission for the state (where students want to study), this new rule is applied in every state of Canada, in the previous time, this rule was implemented only in Quebec for getting study permits. However, students who are planning for the master program or Doctorly course, do not need any permission.
Another major update is that now spouse open work permit will be permitted only those, either they have already master program or related to doctorly courses.
